Description
The home of Grupo Desportivo de Chaves, tucked into the far north of Portugal near the Spanish border, in use since 1949 and named after the engineer who oversaw its construction.
Its record crowd of 25,000 came against Benfica in November 1985, and Cristiano Ronaldo made his Portugal debut here against Kazakhstan in August 2003.
A long modernisation reached its main phase in August 2017, when the old south terrace was demolished and replaced by a fully covered stand of about 3,000 seats built closer to the pitch, with a roof added over the small east stand. Capacity now stands at 8,400 in a ground known for its cold, hostile winter atmosphere.
