Issa Kaboré began his senior career with Rahimo FC in his native Burkina Faso before moving to Belgium with KV Mechelen in 2019. Manchester City signed him the following year, and he spent almost all of his time under contract there out on loan, at Mechelen, Troyes, Marseille and Luton Town.

An attacking right-back or wing-back, Kaboré is valued above all for his pace and his willingness to overlap, and he arrived at Benfica on a season-long loan from Manchester City in September 2024.

The move did not work out. He struggled for minutes under Bruno Lage and the loan was cut short in January 2025, when Manchester City recalled him and sent him to Werder Bremen for the remainder of the campaign.

A long-serving Burkina Faso international, he was named best young player at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, where his side reached the semi-finals.
