David Neres started out at São Paulo before moving to Ajax in 2017, where he won the Eredivisie title and the Dutch cup, and later played for Shakhtar Donetsk. He joined Benfica in June 2022 following the disruption to Ukrainian football.

A left-footed right winger with quick feet, he is a dribbler who likes to cut inside onto his stronger foot, and he helped Benfica win the Primeira Liga in 2022/23.

He made no appearances for the club in 2024/25, leaving for Napoli in August 2024. In Italy he quickly became an important attacking option and won the Serie A title in his first season there.

A Brazil international, he was part of the squad that won the 2019 Copa América.
