Facundo Ferreyra was born on 14 March 1991 in Lomas de Zamora, Argentina. He was formed at Banfield and, after a season at Vélez Sarsfield, moved to Europe with Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013, where he spent five seasons interrupted by a loan to Newcastle United.

Benfica signed him in the summer of 2018. His time at the club was largely spent elsewhere: after an eighteen-month loan to Espanyol he returned in July 2020 and was a fringe member of the first-team squad in the first half of 2020/21, making few appearances under Jorge Jesus. His contract was terminated by mutual agreement at the end of January 2021, and he joined Celta de Vigo for the remainder of that season. He did not feature for Benfica in 2021/22.

He subsequently returned to the Americas, playing for Tijuana in Mexico and then Independiente, Argentinos Juniors, Sarmiento and Tigre in Argentina. He was capped by Argentina at senior level.

The end date of his Benfica contract could not be confirmed from a reliable public source; the deal was ended early by mutual agreement.
