Lille OSC was formed on 23 September 1944 from the merger of two pre-war clubs from the city of Lille and has played at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy since 2012. The club has won four Ligue 1 titles, most recently in 2020–21, six Coupes de France and the 2021 Trophée des Champions. Its post-war side of 1946 to 1956 was so dominant that it was nicknamed La Machine de Guerre.
