French defender Clément Lenglet acknowledged that the win over Villarreal was important for building confidence ahead of next week's Europa League match against St. Gallen.
"A win was important for us, before we officially get started. I think we played a good game — of course there are always things we can correct, but we won 2-0 against a team that will play in the Champions League this year, that has a very good squad and finished 3rd in the Spanish league last season," he noted to BTV's microphones, saying he was "very happy with the result and with what happened in the game."
Lenglet explained why he only played 45 minutes. "It was as a precaution, as I had a bad night," he revealed, before praising the Benfica supporters. "The club has incredible fans. In the friendly matches, you can tell there are a lot of people behind this club, who want Benfica at 200 percent. It's good to be here and I hope things go well for everyone and that we enjoy many beautiful moments all together."
