Uniao Desportiva de Leiria was founded on 6 June 1966 from the merger of three clubs in the city of Leiria, and plays at the Estadio Dr. Magalhaes Pessoa, rebuilt for Euro 2004. The club reached the Taca de Portugal final in 2003 and shared the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2007; Jose Mourinho managed the side in 2001-02. After the collapse of its SAD in 2013 it rebuilt from the lower leagues, winning Liga 3 in 2022-23, and played in Liga Portugal 2 in 2025-26.
