Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas traces its football club to 1904 and took its current form on 8 December 1942 through the merger of Botafogo Football Club with the rowing club Clube de Regatas Botafogo. Based in Rio de Janeiro, it plays at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos, known as the Engenhão, and competes in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. In 2024 the club won both the Copa Libertadores and the Brasileirão in the same season.
