Description
The home of Grupo Desportivo Estoril Praia, on the Cascais coast west of Lisbon, and one of the oldest grounds still in senior Portuguese football. It was built in 1938 and opened on 1 January 1939, taking its name from a former club president, and was refurbished in 2009 and 2010.
The site has had persistent structural trouble: part of the Nascente stand subsided in 2011 because of a canal running beneath it, and in January 2018 a match against FC Porto was abandoned when the authorities evacuated a stand over collapse fears. The upper north stand remains closed, so only part of the nominal 8,000 capacity is usable.
