Description
The home of Clube Desportivo de Tondela, in the Viseu district of central Portugal, named after a former club president. It was built in 2008 as a small municipal ground holding just 2,674 people.
When Tondela won promotion to the Primeira Liga in 2015 the stadium was hurriedly enlarged with two additional stands, and the expanded version opened on 13 December 2015 with room for about 5,000. It remains one of the smallest top-flight grounds in Portugal, an open, low-slung bowl surrounded by hills. The attendance record of 4,987 was set against Sporting CP in March 2017, and it has also hosted Portuguese youth international fixtures.
