Shakhtar have not played a competitive match in Donetsk since 2014. The Donbass Arena, opened in 2009 and damaged by shelling, has been unusable ever since, and the club became a permanent exile: first Lviv, then Kharkiv, then Kyiv, and since 2023-24 Arena Lviv, built for Euro 2012.
