Description
A modest municipal-scale ground in Vila das Aves, in the Santo Tirso area of northern Portugal, opened on 8 December 1981 for Clube Desportivo das Aves. It originally held about 8,560 spectators, mostly on terracing; seats were installed in the remaining stands during renovations around the turn of the millennium, cutting the figure to roughly 6,230.
Aves reached the Primeira Liga and won the Taça de Portugal in 2018 before folding in 2021; the ground is now used by its successor club, AVS Futebol SAD. The France national team trained here in preparation for UEFA Euro 2004.
