Atlético bought the site in 2013 and rebuilt it into a fully roofed, single-tier-fed bowl of about 70,000 seats, moving from the old Vicente Calderón. Naming rights have passed from Wanda to the Saudi airline Riyadh Air, but supporters simply call it the Metropolitano. It staged the 2019 Champions League final.
