Description
<p>The Stadio Olimpico opened on 17 May 1953 and hosted the opening and closing ceremonies and the athletics of the 1960 Olympic Games. It is shared by Roma and Lazio and has been the home of the Italy national rugby union team since 2012.</p><p>A thorough reconstruction for the 1990 World Cup left little of the old ground beyond part of the Tevere grandstand facade and added a Teflon and fibreglass roof membrane. The 1990 World Cup final, won by West Germany against Argentina through an Andreas Brehme penalty, was played here.</p><p>It has staged four European Cup or Champions League finals, in 1977, 1984, 1996 and 2009. Capacity is 70,634.</p>
