Description

Celtic moved to the present Celtic Park site in 1892, a relocation a journalist likened to "leaving the graveyard to enter paradise" - the origin of the ground's enduring nickname. Its record attendance of 83,500 was set against Rangers on New Year's Day 1938.

Following the Taylor Report, Fergus McCann oversaw a £40 million rebuild between 1994 and 1998 that turned the ground into an all-seater holding 60,411, at the time the largest club stadium in Britain.

Benfica supporters remember Celtic Park from the 1969-70 European Cup, when the two clubs met and the tie was ultimately settled by the toss of a coin after extra time in Lisbon, one of the last European ties decided that way.
