Germán Andrés Conti was born in Santa Fe and formed at Club Atlético Colón, making his senior debut in December 2013. He became a fixture in the side and eventually its captain, accumulating 119 matches and nine goals before leaving Argentina.

Benfica signed the centre back on 25 May 2018 on a five-year contract. He was used sparingly across his first two seasons, appearing chiefly in cup competitions and as cover, and never established himself in the defensive rotation. From December 2019 onwards he was loaned out almost continuously, spending time with Atlas in Mexico and with Bahia and América Mineiro in Brazil.

He returned to Lisbon in mid-2022 with a year remaining on his contract but had no role under Roger Schmidt and did not appear for the first team during 2022/23. On 30 January 2023 he signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with FC Lokomotiv Moscow, bringing his Benfica spell to an end. He later returned to Argentina with Racing Club.
