Fábio Miguel Silva Duarte was born in Amadora, on the northern edge of Lisbon, and entered Benfica's academy in 2007 as a child. He worked his way through every youth level at the club and was part of the side that finished runner-up in the 2016/17 UEFA Youth League.

Promoted to the professional structure in 2017, the goalkeeper made his debut for Benfica B on 18 February 2018 in the Liga Portugal 2 and went on to make 28 appearances for the reserve side across five seasons. He was an unused member of first-team matchday squads on occasion but never made a competitive appearance for the senior team. He was capped by Portugal at under-20 level.

With his development stalled behind a crowded goalkeeping department, he left the club permanently on 24 June 2022, signing for UD Vilafranquense in the second tier. He later joined 1º Dezembro, and in March 2026 received FIFA approval to represent Cape Verde.
