Luís Henriques de Barros Lopes, universally known as Duk, was born in Lisbon to a Cape Verdean family and was formed at CF Os Montelavarenses, Sporting CP, Oeiras and Belenenses before joining Benfica's academy. A quick, powerful centre-forward who can also play off the left, he was capped by Portugal at under-18 and under-19 level.

He spent two seasons with Benfica B in Liga Portugal 2, making 42 appearances and scoring 11 goals, including eight in the 2021/22 campaign. With no route into the first team ahead of Roger Schmidt's arrival, Benfica agreed his sale to Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen on 15 July 2022, on a three-year contract for a reported fee of around 400,000 euros.

Duk was an immediate success in Scotland, finishing 2022/23 as Aberdeen's leading scorer and being named Premiership Player of the Month in March 2023. He also made his senior debut for Cape Verde in 2022, having opted to represent the country of his heritage. In February 2025 he joined CD Leganés in Spain.
