João Victor da Silva Marcelino was born in Bauru and came through Corinthians, with loan spells at Inter de Limeira and Atlético Goianiense before establishing himself in the Corinthians first team. He signed a five-year contract with Benfica in July 2022.

A right-footed centre-back, he was recruited as depth in central defence but did not displace the club's established pairing, and spent the second half of his first season on loan at Nantes.

The 2023/24 campaign brought him few opportunities. He made only a handful of appearances in the first half of the season, and on 31 December 2023 he returned to Brazil with Vasco da Gama.

He was part of the Benfica squads that won the 2022/23 Primeira Liga and the 2023 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira. He has not been capped by Brazil at senior level.
