Godfried Frimpong was born in the Netherlands on 21 April 1999 and joined Benfica's academy, where he played at left-back for the B team in the Portuguese second tier. Left-footed and 1.80 metres tall, he was an attacking full-back who liked to overlap.

He was registered with the club for the 2019-20 season and left in July 2021 for Moreirense, where he spent three and a half years in the Primeira Liga. In January 2025 he moved to Turkey with Kasımpaşa.
