SL Benfica - Richard Ríos, #20
CompareShare Card
A futsal player in his native Vegachí until his late teens, the Colombian midfielder took a leap of faith by travelling to Brazil, where a trial earned him a place at Flamengo following the 2018 South American Under-20 Championship.
He made his senior debut in 2020 and, after a loan spell in Mexico with Mazatlán and a productive period at Guarani in Brazil's second tier, joined Palmeiras. There he established himself as one of South America's most complete midfielders, helping the club win the Campeonato Brasileiro in 2023 and the Campeonato Paulista in 2024 and featuring in the Copa Libertadores and the FIFA Club World Cup.
In July 2025 he signed a five-year contract with Benfica, adding physical presence, ball-carrying and versatility to the Encarnados' midfield, and lifted the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira in his first weeks at the club.
An international since 2023, Ríos was a runner-up with Colombia at the 2024 Copa América and featured at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
