About the Club
Paris Saint-Germain Football Club was formed on 12 August 1970 through the merger of Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain, giving the French capital a leading club side after decades without one. The team plays at the Parc des Princes in the west of Paris, a ground of just under 48,000 seats that has been its home for most of its existence.
The club's fortunes changed dramatically after Qatar Sports Investments took control in 2011, turning PSG into one of the wealthiest and most heavily backed teams in world football. It has since dominated Ligue 1, where it holds a record haul of league championships alongside a record number of Coupe de France wins, and it finally conquered Europe by lifting the UEFA Champions League in 2025 and again in 2026. PSG continues to compete in Ligue 1.
