João Pedro Moreira Resende was born in Guimarães on 26 March 2003 and was formed at Vitória de Guimarães, whose under-17 side he represented in 2018/19. Benfica signed him in August 2019 and placed him in the under-17 squad at the Seixal academy, from where he moved up through the under-19 and under-23 ranks. He was capped by Portugal at under-20 level.

A quick, right-footed forward who could also be used off the right flank, Resende made his Benfica B debut in the 2020/21 season and appeared for the reserve side in the Liga Portugal 2 across two campaigns, playing eight matches and scoring twice in 2021/22 and adding twelve appearances and one goal in 2022/23. He wore the number 51 shirt and never featured for the first team.

He left the club in July 2023 for União de Leiria, spending the second half of 2023/24 on loan at Académica de Coimbra. Subsequent moves took him to Estrela da Amadora in 2025, on loan to Pontevedra in Spain, and to Farense in 2026.
