A left-footed centre-back formed entirely in Benfica's academy at Seixal, Gonçalo Oliveira progressed through the club's youth ranks before establishing himself with Benfica B in Liga Portugal 2.

Regarded as one of the most promising defenders of his generation at the club, he left the Estádio da Luz in the summer of 2026 to join Stade Rennais, with Benfica retaining a buy-back option.
