Associacao Desportiva de Marco de Canaveses 09 was created by supporters of the defunct Futebol Clube do Marco to keep senior football alive in the town, in the Porto district. It rose through the district leagues and returned to national competition in 2023.

Members voted in 2024 to recover the original FC Marco name and crest, a change intended to take effect from the 2025/26 season.
