Sport Clube Uniao Torreense was founded on 1 May 1917 in Torres Vedras, in a town where football had been introduced by English workers employed in local oil prospecting. The club plays at the Estadio Manuel Marques.

Torreense spent six seasons in the Portuguese top flight, the last in 1991-92, and reached the 1956 Taca de Portugal final. It won Liga 3 in 2021-22 to return to the second tier, and in May 2026 lifted the Taca de Portugal for the first time by beating Sporting CP in the final.
