Villa has won seven English league championships and seven FA Cups, most of them during a period of dominance either side of 1900, along with five League Cups. Its most celebrated night came in Rotterdam in 1982, when a Peter Withe goal beat Bayern Munich to win the European Cup; the UEFA Super Cup followed later that year.
Under Unai Emery the club has returned to the European stage, and in May 2026 it beat Freiburg 3-0 in Istanbul to win the UEFA Europa League, a second continental trophy. Villa competes in the Premier League.
