Racing Club de Lens was founded in 1906 in the mining town of Lens in Pas-de-Calais and plays in Ligue 1 at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis. Its greatest honour is the 1997-98 Ligue 1 title, added to a Coupe de la Ligue win in 1999 and a UEFA Cup semi-final run in 1999-2000. Returning to the Champions League in 2023-24, Lens finished third in Group B behind Arsenal and PSV Eindhoven, dropping into the Europa League knockout play-offs.
