Eintracht Frankfurt was founded on 8 March 1899 in Frankfurt am Main and is one of the best supported clubs in the German state of Hesse. The team plays at the Deutsche Bank Park, the arena long known as the Waldstadion, which holds close to 60,000 spectators.

The club claimed the German championship in 1959 and reached the European Cup final the following year, losing a famously open match to Real Madrid in Glasgow. Five DFB-Pokal triumphs followed between 1974 and 2018, while European silverware arrived through the UEFA Cup in 1980 and a second continental title in the 2022 Europa League, won on penalties in Seville after an unbeaten run.

Nicknamed the Eagles, Eintracht were a fixture of the Bundesliga for more than three decades before a spell of instability in the late 1990s, and today compete once again in the German top flight.
