About the Club
União Desportiva Vilafranquense was formed on 12 April 1957 in Vila Franca de Xira, north of Lisbon, through the merger of four local sports clubs. The red-and-white side played in Liga Portugal 2 for several seasons, using the Estádio Municipal de Rio Maior for professional fixtures while keeping the Campo do Cevadeiro as its home. In 2024 its SAD relocated and was rebranded AVS Futebol SAD, leaving the original club to restart in the Lisbon FA district divisions.
