Qarabağ FK is an Azerbaijani professional football club originally from Aghdam in the Karabakh region, founded in 1951 and taking its present name in 1987. The First Nagorno-Karabakh War forced the club to leave Aghdam in 1993, and it has been based in Baku ever since, playing home matches at the Azersun Arena and using the larger Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium for European ties.

Qarabağ has dominated Azerbaijani football in the modern era, winning a long run of Premier League titles as well as multiple Azerbaijan Cups. It became the first club from the country to reach the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, in 2017-18, and has been a regular presence in European competition, giving the displaced community of Karabakh a lasting sporting identity.
