Futebol Clube Tirsense was founded on 5 January 1938 in Santo Tirso, in the district of Porto, and plays at the Estádio Abel Alves de Figueiredo, which holds around 10,000 spectators. The club has made eight appearances in the Portuguese top flight, its best finish being eighth place in 1994-95, and now competes in the AF Porto and Campeonato de Portugal levels of the pyramid. Tirsense have won three national titles and twelve AF Porto regional championships.
