<p>The Sammy Ofer Stadium in Haifa opened on 27 August 2014 and is shared by Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Haifa; Israel also use it for selected internationals. The first official match was a Toto Cup tie in which Hapoel Haifa beat Hapoel Acre 2-0.</p><p>It is named after the Israeli shipping magnate Sammy Ofer, who died in 2011 and whose $20 million donation covered nineteen per cent of the construction cost.</p><p>Capacity is 30,950. Maccabi Haifa's third consecutive championship in 2022-23 was built on a home record there of eighteen wins, one draw and no defeats.</p>
