Description
A sporting site since 1897, when it opened as an open-air velodrome, the Parc des Princes was completely rebuilt between 1967 and 1972 to a design by Roger Taillibert. Its ring of prestressed concrete ribs supports a roof covering every seat, and there is no running track, so the stands sit tight to the touchlines.
Paris Saint-Germain moved in during 1974 and have been sole tenants since the 1990s, backed by the Virage Auteuil and Virage Boulogne ends. Capacity is around 47,900, modest for a club of PSG's stature, and the dispute with the city over expansion or relocation is unresolved.
