Description
The Allianz Riviera opened on 22 September 2013 as the new home of OGC Nice, replacing the cramped Stade du Ray. Designed by Jean-Michel Wilmotte and built for around 250 million euros, it is known as the Stade de Nice when UEFA or FIFA sponsorship rules apply.
Its curved timber-and-steel roof and solar array make it one of the more environmentally minded grounds in France. It hosted four matches at Euro 2016, six at the 2019 Women's World Cup including the third-place play-off, pool games at the 2023 Rugby World Cup and football at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and it also stages RC Toulon rugby fixtures.
