Signed on loan from Manchester City on deadline day of the 2026 summer window, the Argentina attacking midfielder arrives at the Estádio da Luz on a one-season deal.

Born in Resistência, in the northern province of Chaco, Echeverri was spotted by River Plate at ten and joined their academy a year later. He appeared for the reserve side at sixteen, made his first-team debut in June 2023 at seventeen, and had passed forty senior appearances for the club by the time Manchester City completed his signing in January 2025.

Known in Argentina as El Diablito - the little devil - for the way he runs at defenders, he is a right-footed number ten who plays between the lines, carries the ball at speed and picks a pass on the run. He scored on his first FIFA Club World Cup appearance for City.

A prolific youth international, Echeverri scored five goals at the 2023 South American Under-17 Championship and five more at the Under-17 World Cup that year, taking the Bronze Boot, and was part of Argentina's squad at the 2024 Olympic Games.
