Leandro Martins is a left-sided defender born in Cascais in 2006 and formed entirely at Benfica, having entered the academy in 2019 and progressed through the under-15, under-17 and under-19 sides.

Small and left-footed, he plays mainly as a left-back but has also been used further forward on the flank and, in Portuguese federation records, as a midfielder. He was first registered with the Benfica B squad in 2023/24, returned to the youth ranks, and was given a professional contract in December 2024 running to June 2027, after which he combined under-23 football with appearances for the reserve team in the Liga Portugal 2.

He has not appeared for the first team. The date of birth recorded for him, 1 January 2006, is also the one held by the Portuguese Football Federation, and no more precise date has been published.
