West Ham United was founded in 1895 as Thames Ironworks F.C. and reformed under its present name in 1900; it is based in Stratford, in the London Borough of Newham. The club has won the FA Cup three times and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1965, and lifted the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2022-23, beating Fiorentina 2-1 in the final. That title took West Ham into the 2023-24 UEFA Europa League, where they won Group A ahead of Freiburg, Olympiacos and Backa Topola before losing to Bayer Leverkusen in the quarter-finals.
