Chelsea Football Club is an English professional football club founded in March 1905 and based in Fulham, west London. It was created by businessman Gus Mears to occupy Stamford Bridge, the athletics ground he had acquired, after neighbouring Fulham declined to lease it; the stadium has been Chelsea's home ever since.
Chelsea won its first league title in 1955 but enjoyed by far its greatest era after 2003, collecting six top-flight championships, eight FA Cups and five League Cups. In Europe it has won the Cup Winners' Cup twice, the UEFA Cup/Europa League twice, the Conference League, and the Champions League in 2012 and 2021, making it one of the few clubs to have won every major UEFA competition.
