Grupo Desportivo de Lagoa was founded on 12 January 1971 in Lagoa, in the Algarve, and plays its home matches at the Estádio Capitão Josino da Costa. The club won the III Divisão in 2006-07 and has since competed in the first division of the Associação de Futebol do Algarve. It also runs a prominent speed-skating section that has collected numerous regional and national titles.
