Morato joined Benfica from São Paulo in September 2019 and worked his way up through the B team into the first team, where he was named the Primeira Liga's defender of the month in August 2022.

A left-footed centre-back who can also fill in at left-back, he is a physically imposing defender, strong in the air and confident bringing the ball out of defence.

His Benfica career ended at the very start of 2024/25. Nottingham Forest signed him at the end of August 2024, before he had played a competitive match in the new season, and he went on to serve as a rotation defender in the Premier League.

He has played for Brazil at under-20 level but has no senior caps.
